APMP California and Valley of the Sun Chapters Merge

The New APMP Western Chapter Launches This Month

The APMP California Chapter and the APMP Valley of the Sun Chapter will merge to become the APMP Western Chapter, effective July 15. This new chapter will serve business-winning professionals in Arizona, California, Nevada and New Mexico, and will welcome members based in Hawaii as well.

Both chapters have long histories in the industry. The Valley of the Sun Chapter, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, was APMP’s first chapter, founded by the late Howard Nutt, CF APMP Fellow, in Phoenix in 1991. The California Chapter was formed in 2012 when the Northern California (NorCal) and Southern California (SoCal) chapters merged. NorCal grew from the Golden Gate Chapter, chartered in 1994, and SoCal was chartered in 1996.

Lisa Rehurek, Valley of the Sun chair, said that this merger will allow for more communication, events and support for chapter members. Dick Eassom, CF APMP Fellow, APMP California chair, will chair the new APMP Western Chapter and provided a snapshot of the programs all members can look forward to:

  • Monthly Zoom webinars on a variety of professional development topics
  • A mentor/mentee program
  • Monthly virtual coffee meetings
  • Local in-person events, as restrictions allow
  • The inaugural APMP Western Chapter Training Day (previously California Training Day XVI), to be held at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa in Anaheim, California, Oct. 29

“I’m honored to chair this new chapter,” Eassom says, “and I look forward to representing all our affiliated members.”
