APMP Japan’s 7th Anniversary Event

APMP Japan’s Festa event brought together the Japanese bid & proposal community for a day of learning, networking, and celebrating one of APMP’s newest chapters in early November 2022. This event commemorated the 7th anniversary of APMP Japan’s establishment and approximately 40 professionals attended the hybrid event. Despite the small number of participants, the meeting was full of energy. APMP Japan’s theme for this event was “Influence” as they are actively spreading awareness about the bid & proposal profession throughout their country.

The first speaker session focused on the struggle of three proposal professionals to spread proposal management at two of Japan‘s leading companies Hitachi and Fujitsu. Mr. Daisuke Sasaki at Hitachi, Ltd. spoke about trial and error in proposal management implementation and Ms. Naomi Sako at Hitachi Academy Co., Ltd. spoke about her aspirations to popularize the training program with zero recognition. Ms. Noriko Tashima at Fujitsu Limited spoke about how she used the APMP BOK in setting up her proposal support team. The next session was a panel discussion on the Effectiveness of Proposal Management. Lastly, Mr. Shintaro Itagaki at Google Cloud Japan from the RFP subcommittee led a discussion on the effectiveness of the APMP BOK for those requesting proposals.

APMP Japan is eager to expand its circle of influence so that we can eventually provide our know-how to the BOK. Participants said they were encouraged to learn that other companies were also struggling to promote proposal management in the same way.

In other news, APMP Japan held its second certification exam of the year in late October. They’ve had 100 people pass the Foundation exam since they started and receive more requests from corporations frequently. APMP Japan is thrilled by all of the support they’ve received and hope to bring a BPC event to Japan in the future!
