BPC Europe 2022 is off to a roaring start in Amsterdam and we’d like to share some of the key takeaways from Day One. BPC Europe is the largest conference for bid & proposal professionals in Europe. The first edition of BPC Europe was two years ago and we are thrilled to be able to bring the European bid & proposal community back together again! Check back soon for BPC Europe 2022 Day Two Key Takeaways!
Key Takeaway #1: Gareth Earle MA, CP APMP of BidCraft says the most important key to winning more bids and proposals is knowing your evaluator. The second most important is always striving to make the evaluator happy with you!
Key Takeaway #2: Even though Microsoft Teams dominates as a collaborative workspace, we shouldn’t sleep on Google. Andrew Loveridge says collaboration should be about activity and spontaneity. Our younger colleagues prefer Google and we should learn why. Hint: version control in Google workspace is superior.
Key Takeaway #3: Chris Kalin of CSK Management advises companies and consultants not to worry about shocking your customer with the price. People equate quality with the expense. People have been conditioned to expect a higher price tag for quality services. Don’t be afraid of your price and share it early.
Key Takeaway #4: Frederik Lam of Shipley Nordic noticed that finding talent in the industry is notoriously difficult. He believes that investing in the industry will help solve that. 93 percent of his survey said bid and proposal managers in Scandinavian countries are satisfied with their job. The average for other industries is 80 percent. However, 53 percent want to leave the profession. How do we improve that number?
- Create a formal training program to be an accomplished Bid Manager.
- Create a strategy for developing and finding bid managers.
- Create a professional career path that leads to C-Suite management.
- Invest in APMP and its programs to continue to build community.
